The entire sound track is on my iPhone and I listen to it frequently in my car.Check out my newest Thriller - Bound By Birth - by Randall R WheelerBound By Birth I have always loved Talking Heads since I first heard a bootleg of Psycho Killer from CBGB's. This film has all the esence and creativity of Talking Heads and I can't watch it enough.
At very least rent it if you don't want to spend money because it'll make you feel good. A dvd Talking Heads fans must have in their collection and HIGHLY recommend to all music lovers.
It was absolutely breathtaking stuff from every angle. I sang and whirled and screamed out accolades for great filming, harmonies, lighting and effects. It was impossible to watch and listen without trying out all of David Byrne's great moves.
I waited for this to be released on Netflix forever and don't regret a day of waiting. This DVD is just phenomenol, though, and makes me grieve the years I wasn't a fan.I was ready to call it a night last night and decided to curl up on the couch w/ this flick instead. OMG.
Well, it turned out to be a crazy dance party for one. I have to purchase this now and it will become my most loved "dance video". Yes I heard Talking Heads during their hayday.
No, I really didn't start to "get it" until recent years.
Stunning. The wide screen and re-mastered version is breathtaking. An absolutely visceral experience.
Speeding it up by about 30% was a mistake, and the tune lost the thing that made it what it originally was.I recently heard that one of our local PBS stations is going to air this concert DVD during a fundraiser. I really liked the tempo of the original version - it had a grindingly soulful sound to it. I was especially disappointed by the arrangement of "Take Me To The River".
I usually rate tunes by my impression the first time I listen to them or to a new arrangment. I'm an old musician, so I like to see the musicians more than the staging. Most of the reviews have been raves.
The entire show seemed to be just a showcase for David Byrne to putz around on stage. I wish I'd waited to hear it there first - I wouldn't have bought a copy. Not being a huge Talking Heads fan, I found many of the songs uneventful, and the stage effects a bit distracting.
Some of the lighting effects seemed like updated versions of 60s psychedelic for the kids who weren't old enough to have seen it.
